Overview

The Illinois Fire Service Administrative Professionals (IFSAP) was founded in September, 1980, when a group of ten secretaries from across the State of Illinois gathered for the purpose of determining the educational needs of the Fire Service Secretary.

IFSAP has since developed into a professional organization built around the Fire Service and the needs of the administrative support staff that operate within it. Our belief is that it is necessary and advantageous for us to network, share ideas and train together whenever possible.

IFSAP Active membership has grown to over 230 professionals that are committed to the improvement of the fire departments and districts we serve. Our Associate membership is steadily increasing, as support staff and businesses from fire service affiliated organizations learn what a valuable resource our organization has become.

Educational Opportunities are offered throughout the year on a wide range of subjects geared for Fire Service support staff. Every two years a comprehensive Executive Support Program is held for those professionals wishing to familiarize themselves with all aspects of the Fire Service. Members are also encouraged to share information and “proven” solutions through e-mail blasts which translate into additional education that is free for the asking.

Members also have the opportunity to volunteer their time and talents to help others, if they so desire, by way of the “I AM ME’ Burn Camp sponsored by the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, the OSFM & Illinois Fire Services Association Fire Safety Tent at the State Fair or the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association Fundraiser, to name just a few.

Recognized and endorsed by the
Illinois Fire Chiefs Association….

“The unsung hero of any organization is that of our support staff. In working with the IFSAP group, I became aware of the passion they have in seeing their organizations strive but to have the knowledge to support their Fire Chiefs. The education and networking provided through IFSAP is priceless with positive results. ”

Fire Chief Donald Shoevlin, IFCA 1st Vice President
